The League of Local Planning and Development Coordinators of the Philippines, Inc. (LLPDCPI) National Board and the LLPDCPI CARAGA Regional Chapter convention committee scheduled to meet on February 15-16, 2018, in Butuan City, to formulate plans for the upcoming 29th Annual Convention of the LLPDCPI either in May or in June this year. The National Convention serves as venue for the local planning and development coordinators in the local government units (LGUs)--municipality, city and province, all over the country to present, discuss, learn, share and resolve matters pertaining to the mandates of the local planning and development coordinators.

A POSITION PAPER

One of the primary concerns of the Municipal Government of Boac has been the conservation and protection of the municipality’s environment and natural resources as well as the management of solid waste. One major issue is the continuing pollution of the Boac River caused by the 1996 Marcopper Mining Disaster, a man-made industrial disaster. Furthermore, the municipality of Boac faces problems in the implementation of environmental ordinances and laws. The problem ranges from disobedience towards the passed laws to the lack of proper planning and mismanagement of personnel assigned to handle the situation.
